Standard PE wood-plastic composite (WPC) decking begins to whiten and fade after just two summers of outdoor exposure. ASA decking is different-its color is integral to the material itself, not merely a surface coating.
First, it is resistant to UV fading. The molecular structure of ASA contains no unsaturated double bonds, making it naturally UV-resistant. Standard outdoor weathering tests show virtually no degradation in impact strength or elongation at break, and no significant color shift. While ordinary decking visibly yellows and fades after two or three years, any color change in ASA decking is barely perceptible to the naked eye.
Second, it remains stable across all seasons. It does not soften in high summer temperatures nor become brittle or crack in the winter cold. With minimal shrinkage, the boards resist warping or deformation caused by fluctuating temperatures.
Third, it is wear-resistant and retains its new appearance. The surface is highly resistant to abrasion and scratches, withstanding daily foot traffic and friction from objects without easily showing marks. Even after a decade of use, it retains its original texture and feel.
